The Louise Weiss journalism prize founded by the AEJ’s French Section is expanding its range, as Véronique Auger, its president explains:

Weiss: suffragette, pioneer European

“The French section of the AEJ has been organising the Louise Weiss Prize for European Journalism for 18 years now. Three prizes are awarded for the best reports and investigations on Europe by senior and junior journalists. Last year we also launched the first Louise Weiss Prize for European Climate Journalism. Until now, these prizes have been limited to work written in French.

“This year we decided to join forces with the Assises européennes du journalisme and launch the Louise Weiss Prize for European Climate Journalism in all EU Member States.

The prize is actually two prizes:

  • LW Prize for cross-border investigative reporting on the climate in Europe
  • LW Prize for journalistic work on European climate change issues, impacts and solutions.

We would like to invite your Section to join this initiative. In practical terms, this would enable you to call for entries from journalists in your country, select the best and submit them to the European jury. Naturally, one of the most prominent members of your ection would be part of the jury and the final selection of the two winners.”

The award ceremony is to be held in Brussels, taking place in November every two years on the occasion of the Assises européennes du journalisme.
