Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton suggested today the US could “take out” Russian President Putin if he were to use nuclear weapons, Newsweek reported.
As the Russian-Ukraine war continues into its seventh month, fears of a possible Russian nuclear strike have increased. Putin recently ramped up his rhetoric about a nuclear confrontation, notably as his military has seen losses pile up since the launch of the “special military operation” in late February.
Bolton, former President Trump‘s adviser and a famously noisy war-hawk, was being interviewed on the British radio show LBC. “You can ask Qasem Soleimani in Iran what happens when we decide somebody is a threat to the US,” he said, “It should be made clear to Vladimir Putin that he’d be signing a suicide note if he were to order use of a tactical nuclear weapon.”
