If the Ukraine horror story is also being fought in the media, and pseudo-media, this action was something like a direct hit for Putin and his tightly-controlled media. Somehow, against all the odds, and the nastiness that she will surely have to endure, a marvellous woman managed to disrupt the main Russian tv “news”, and delivered her protest straight to camera.
The BBC’s excellent Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg called it “Absolutely astonishing. During Russian Channel 1’s evening news broadcast, a woman ran onto the set with a sign: “No war…Don’t believe the propaganda. They’re lying to you here.”
What is even more astonishing is that the woman was – until now – an editor for the tv station: Marina Ovsyannikova.
