The €20,000 Daphne Caruana Galizia prize will be awarded as of October 2021 to journalists or teams of journalists based in the EU. The winning article will be chosen by an independent jury. It is awarded by the European Parliament.
The prize is explicitly to protexct and celebrate journalism and media freedom as vital to European democracy and values, as Daphne’s son Andrew eloquently explains in this Facebook discussion.
