European Commission urges Hungary to amend media law in line with landmark court ruling

A spokesman for European Commission Vice-President Neelie Kroes, the Commissioner for Digital Agenda (Information Society and Media), has called on Hungary to amend its much-criticised media laws to conform with a recent ruling by the country’s Constitutional Court. The Commission also criticised Hungary’s handling of the issue of awarding radio licences, stressing the need for transparency and competition.
