To mark World Press Freedom Day 2010 the Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner, Thomas Hammarberg, paid tribute to the courage of Anna Politkovskaya and other investigative journalists killed seeking to reveal the truth about controversial political matters. He said Governments must show their will to protect media freedom through “concrete actions”.
