AEJ appeals for charges against Kambakhsh to be dropped

A AEJ Media Freedom Representative William Horsley has written to Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan, concerning the charges against Afghan Journalist Parwiz Kambakhsh: “I write as an international representative of the AEJ to tell you of the acute dismay and concern of our members – over the detention, prosecution and judicial death sentence ordered by an Afghan court on Parwiz Kambakhsh, a reporter and journalism student, pending his appeal. We believe that Mr Kambakhsh is entirely innocent of any wrongdoing, and the actions for which he was found guilty, while being controversial among some sections of Afghan society, are clearly within the normal bounds of free speech and free expression” Click here for complete text.
