All AEJ sections were present at the Brussels meeting of the Executive Committee on the 1st of July. Regretfully Portugal and Armenia had to withdraw at the last minute. President Fernando de Valenzuela also welcomed special guests Zdenko Duka (Croatia), Horst Keller (Germany) and Patrick Humphreys (Network of European journalists in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Estonia).
One of the most important outcomes of the meeting was the decision to hold the 44th AEJ Congress and General Assembly in Oviedo, Spain in October 2006 as proposed by Diego Carcedo, Vice-President of the Spanish Section (see picture). Precise details will follow nearer the time.
