The AEJ supports the Petition signed by international figures such as Vaclav Havel, Steven Spielberg and Tom Stoppard for Belarus to respect basic human rights and end repressive laws in Belarus. Journalists and human rights campaigners in Belarus launched the worldwide petition, together with Index on Censorship, to increase pressure on the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko to remove repressive laws, as the presidential election on 19 December approaches.
