In Vienna: Interesting debate about Slovakia, one year after murder of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak. Organized by AEJ, Osterreichischer Journalistenclub OJC and “Reporters without borders”. AEJ-General Secretary Tibor Macak warned of Russian involvement in the European elections. Pavol Dubcek,70, eldest son of Alexander Dubcek, announced his candidacy in the European elections. “My father always believed in the European integration and he wanted, that Czechs and Slovaks should live a better life similar to scandinavian states or Austria.” He still has doubts about the circumstances of the car incident in 1992 in which his father died soon afterwards. “My father was stubborn and still stood in the way of some people.”
AEJ, OJC and RwB released a common resolution which calls for swift exam to find the culprits of the asassination of Jan Kuciak in SLovakia and Daphne Galicia Caruana in Malta. EU-institutions should step up efforts to put pressure on the governments and authorities in member countries and those which want to enter EU.
