The members of the AEJ Executive Committee were the guests of the Slovak AEJ section from 23 – 25 March.
The ExCom decided to propose the next AEJ General Assembly (second half of 2012) to change the Statutes. The most important decision was to create a ‘real’ Board (President, 3 Vice-Presidents, Secretary-General and Treasurer) including also maximum of 3 Special Representatives (as we have already William Horsley for Media Freedom and Koos van Houdt for Euregional Journalism), that takes over some tasks of the Executive Committee. Also the power of the General Assembly increased. These proposals make the existence of an Executive Committee superfluous.
Euregional Journalism and Media Freedom were the main subjects. William Horsley called all sections to participate in World Press Freedom Day 2012.
The US Ambassador in Slovakia, Theodore Sedgwick, invited the ExCom members and members of the Slovak section for a cocktail in his residence. Financial support was received by ENEL, the Slovak Energy Company and by the Slovak Bureau of the European Commission.
