At the AEJ Congress in Bucharest MediaSind, Romania’s largest Press Trade Union, presented a petition to Foreign Minister, Teodor Baconschi, that it had sent to the Social Dialogue Committee of the European Commission.
It calls on the Romanian Government not to adopt legislation that would change the status of working journalists by a) including in the traditional Media Sector ( press, radio, tv and electronic media) – Cultural Services (employees of libraries and or museums) and Advertising Services (ad-agencies) and b) re-categorising all of these sectors in an Industry Sector.
This legislation is due to be adopted in the coming week.
