Freedom of the Media is one of the main themes for the Association of European Journalists. After the call of the Oviedo AEJ Congress 2006, more AEJ sections then ever participated in the celebration of WPFD 2007.
The Greek section issued a special paper and a t-shirt in an appeal to a broad public; the Belgian and Italian section organised a special meeting for their members and sympathisants, as the French and the British did in cooperation with other organisations like OSCE, Reporters sans Frontieres etc. Also the AEJ sections in Romania, Armenia and Turkey had a high profile celebration on May 3rd. The Netherlands and Hungary paid attention to the theme on a different date.
